Golden Retriever
HAppy, relaxed Golden Retriever at Furry Tails Kennels & Cattery

Furry Tails is proud to be affiliated with Dumfries and Cumbria Greyhound Rescue (DCGR). They have contracted 2 pens here on a permanent basis. The Greyhounds come to me when they are fully vaccinated. From here they go to foster homes, then they are ready for adoption.

It has been a wonderful experience working with these dogs. They are usually ex racers, and have not had the experiences other dogs would have. They do not know how to play, or what a toy or ball is. They have often never been into a house, or seen everyday things like a hoover or a TV. They are an amazing breed, and soon learn to play and fetch. They need very little exercise and are real couch potatoes!

If you have an interest in adopting, or fostering this noble breed, see their website at www.dgrescue.org.uk

Dog Training

Furry Tails is very proud to announce a new affiliation with Darren Kirk, of Kirkbourne Spaniels. Darren has been training dogs for 25years now, and works at venues such as Harewood House in Leeds. He has agreed to come to furry Tails and do some outdoor basic classes in the large secure paddock (in all weathers). See his website for more info www.kirkbournespaniels.co.uk

Our 1st class will be held at 6pm on Tues 5th March

please let us know if you want to book as spaces are limited

We hope to make this a regular class through the summer months

If you are in need of any dog training, or puppy or dog socialisation, or want to attend dog classes, contact Jen Cartmel

www.clever-dogs.co.uk. Jen will also do a home visit if you wish. She is an excellent and experienced dog trainer and can advise on all aspects of dog behaviour.

Pet Shops

If you are on holiday in the area and are visiting Keswick (well worth a visit) then call in at the famous Podgy Paws pet store. They are in the centre of the town, and details are on their website at www.podgypaws.co.uk

Keswick Accommodation

If you require a place to stay in Keswick I can highly recommend Easedale House, 1 Southey Street www.easedalehouse.com

Keswick Town has just won an award for being so very dog friendly too! This guest house is very central and exceptionally welcoming. Why not leave your dogs at Furry Tails, and come and take them out for days during their stay?
